Briars Field Forest School & Mindfulness for SEN
Registered Charity Number: 1205569

Briars Field Ethos is for young people with SEN needs to feel free to find joy in new experiences in nature.
Briars Field was set up in January 2022 to offer children and young people aged between 2 and 21 years, that either have a diagnosis of SEN or are in the process of receiving one, the opportunity to experience time in nature, experience outdoor and forest school activities and to spend time with ponies in a safe outdoor space.
We try to offer the use of the field free so all children and young people have the opportunity to attend regardless of financial situation.

Briars Field shows adolescents that there is more to life than a bedroom or a device. Young people that have found the outside world and school challenging, line up to get on the bus to this magical place. This provision encompasses social development as a natural process without them being aware, it comes easy to problem solve, make choices, handle different personalities, whilst overcoming sensory issues and actually hearing birds and experiencing wildlife as it wanders through. Young people that don’t usually talk, sit and chat to each other and to us. We have seen a range of progression from better attendance, to engagement with parents to discuss the experiences of the day.
To a number of our young people Briars' Field has been a life changing experience, something that we must nurture and cherish along with Alex and her team.
